Founder & Principal, Justice with Humanity
Jamie Beck, J.D., is the Founder and Principal of Justice with Humanity, a mission-driven consulting practice that equips legal professionals, nonprofit organizations, and institutions with trauma-informed strategies to better serve survivors of violence, abuse, and human trafficking. Justice with Humanity seeks to transform legal systems by placing compassion, humanity, and trauma awareness at the center of legal practice, offering expert witness services, organizational support, and specialized training on subjects such as human trafficking and trauma-informed practices.
With over fourteen years of experience as a legal professional, Ms. Beck previously served as the President & Managing Attorney of Free to Thrive, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the unmet legal needs of human trafficking survivors. Under her leadership, Free to Thrive supported hundreds of survivors in accessing the legal system. She has represented survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual violence in a range of cases, including criminal vacatur (P.C. § 236.14), domestic violence restraining orders, divorce, child custody, victims’ rights representation, and name and gender changes. She also cultivated strategic partnerships with over 100 organizations locally and nationally.
Currently, Ms. Beck serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in Law at USC Gould School of Law and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where she co-teaches an interdisciplinary course on “Trauma-Informed Legal Skills” alongside clinical psychologist Dr. Remi Greenbaum. She has trained thousands of attorneys, judges, students, law enforcement professionals, and community stakeholders on human trafficking, domestic violence, and trauma-informed practices.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Beck practiced civil litigation at Procopio, Cory, Hargeaves & Savitch LLP, where she contributed to the Pro Bono and Diversity Committees. She also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Michael M. Anello, Federal District Court Judge for the Southern District of California.
A past President of Lawyers Club of San Diego, Ms. Beck also founded the Lawyers Club Human Trafficking Collaborative, where she led successful advocacy for legislation enabling human trafficking survivors to clear convictions related to their exploitation—legislation now codified under California P.C. § 236.14.
Ms. Beck earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was a member of the San Diego Law Review. She pursued law to help others, guided by her belief that the legal system is a powerful tool for justice and change.
